Melanie Wholesale Inc. of Brooklyn, NY is recalling its 17.6 oz (500g) package of “Melanie Mini Cookies with Caramel Flavor”, because they contain undeclared peanuts.  People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled “Melanie Mini Cookies with Caramel Flavor” were distributed nationwide in retail stores.  The product comes in a 17.6 oz (500g) clear plastic package with an expiration date (all dates).  The product UPC 4770049082126.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed that the peanut –containing product was distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.

The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 6410” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution centers in California, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and then further distributed to retail stores.
The problem was discovered on May 17, 2018, when the firm received a customer complaint that a package of “Hempler’s Family Classic Pepperoni, Natural Smoke Flavor Added,” contained a different product identified as “Hempler’s Pepperoni with Jalapeno and Cheese, Natural Smoke Flavoring Added.” The retail establishment notified the firm, who informed FSIS of the problem.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

WASHINGTON, May 16, 2018 – Kent Quality Foods, Inc., a Grand Rapids, Mich. establishment, is recalling approximately 308,430 pounds of ready-to-eat hot dog and sausage products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. 
The ready-to-eat (RTE) hot dog and sausage items were produced on various dates from September 9, 2017 through April 29, 2018. The complete list of products with lot codes and labels can be found here: List of products [View Labels (PDF only)]
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 5694” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution and restaurant locations nationwide.
The problem was discovered on May 12, 2018 by the establishment during product inventory activities. The establishment noticed that the label for the spice mixture used in the production of one of their Beef Polish sausage contained hydrolyzed soy protein as an ingredient. However, the Beef Polish Sausage does not list the soy ingredient on the finish product label. Although the Beef Polish sausage product is the only product that is formulated with the spice mix containing the soy ingredient, there are several other ready-to-eat sausage and hot dog products that are implicated in this recall action due to potential cross contamination via shared equipment during the raw and ready-to-eat processing steps.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.  
The restaurants cook and prepare the product for consumers, who may take the product home as leftovers.  FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Mas Food Services Co. of Oakland Park, FL is recalling its 15 ounce packages of The Peruchef brand dry potato because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
1200 units of the above-mentioned product were distributed to and available for purchase at retail supermarkets in Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, and Maryland.
The Peruchef Brand Dry Potatoes come in a 15-ounce, printed plastic bag marked with “Dry potato” and “Papa Seca Serrana” on the label with an expiration date of August 2019. The product UPC is 7755864000194.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
The voluntary recall was initiated after routine sampling by the Florida State Department of Agriculture and analysis by food laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label.

The products contain wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.  Some of the product labeled as Chicken Tortilla Soup may actually contain Southwest Style Corn Chowder which contains wheat.   
The Chicken Tortilla Soup items were produced on April 25, 2018. The following products are subject to recall: [View Label|(PDF only)]      
  • Cases of 4 bags each weighing 4-lbs. of “BLOUNT fine foods Chicken Tortilla Soup.”  The label indicates “For Institutional Use Only” with a Lot Code of 04251819C.  The “Use By” date is 07/24/2018.  The net weight of each case is 16 lbs. 
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-19449A” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the case label.  These items were shipped to distribution centers for further distribution in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.                                 
The problem was discovered on May 14, 2018, when the firm received a customer complaint that the master container was labeled as “Chicken Tortilla Soup,” and contained a different product, “Southwest Style Corn Chowder.”

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 34176” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution centers in Virginia and Indiana for further distribution to retail locations.
The problem was discovered after the firm received a complaint from a consumer who found blue, hard plastic pieces in one of the products.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.  
FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

Seabear Company Issues a Voluntary Recall of Cold Smoked Wild Coho Salmon Lox Because of Possible Health Risk

Seabear Company of Anacortes, Washington is voluntarily recalling 1,225/ 3 oz. units of Cold Smoked Wild Coho Salmon Lox, Gerard & Dominique Seafoods brand, affected lot # CSCO-17339, Pack Date 17-340, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.
Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated because the product’s water phase salt testing below 3.5%. Labeling instructions state to freeze or refrigerate, once thawed they can be kept unopened in the fridge for up to 30 days. Because the water phase salt is under 3.5% the product must remain frozen until ready to consume. Keeping in the refrigerator after thawing in a reduced oxygen package has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum.
Cold Smoked Wild Coho Salmon Lox, with the affected lot # CSCO-17339, Pack Date 17-340, was distributed directly to distributors in CA, MD, and WA between 12/8/17 and 4/10/18 and it may have been further distributed and sold through retail stores at least in these states.
Cold Smoked Wild Coho Salmon Lox was packaged in a reduced oxygen packaging, net wt. 3 oz. (85g), and has the UPC 7 52047 92635 4.
Consumers are advised to keep product frozen until used and thaw under refrigeration immediately before use. If the consumer has refrigerated product, dispose of immediately even if it does not look or smell spoiled. This recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
