Caito Foods is voluntarily recalling fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fresh-cut mixed fruit containing one of these melons, produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Use or consumption of products contaminated with Salmonella may result in serious illness. It can also produce serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
Reports of illnesses linked to these products are under investigation, and Caito Foods is voluntarily recalling the products out of an abundance of caution. The company has been advised by the CDC that it has linked 58 illnesses to the strain of Salmonella under investigation. Caito Foods has ceased producing and distributing these products as the company and FDA continue their investigation.
The products were packaged in clear, plastic clamshell containers and distributed in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio.
Because it is possible that products shipped between April 17 and June 7, 2018 could still be on store shelves, this recall extends to both retailers and consumers.
The potential that these products are contaminated with Salmonella was discovered through analyzing reports made by state departments of public health. Caito Foods has ceased producing and distributing these products as the company and FDA continue their investigation.
Consumers seeking information may call 844-467-7278 Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT and Saturday and Sunday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT.
Retailers and wholesale customers should check their inventories and shelves to confirm that none of the products are present or available for purchase by consumers or in warehouse inventories. Please contact 844-467-7278 Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT and Saturday and Sunday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT to arrange for disposal or return of the product.
This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Pre-cut melon sold in Indiana recalled by Kroger due to possible salmonella contamination

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Kroger is recalling pre-cut cantaloupe, watermelon and melon mixes sold in Indiana and Michigan stores due to possible salmonella contamination.
The company was informed by the CDC and FDA on June 7 that several people have fallen ill in connection with the outbreak. The products were limited to select Kroger, Jay C, Owen’s and Pay Less stores and were provided by a third-party supplier.
Kroger said there have been no further reports of illnesses since May 28 and the shelf life of the produces are very limited, but wanted to issue the recall out of “an abundance of caution.”
The recall doesn’t impact other pre-cut fruit.
Customer who purchased the following products should not consume them and return them to the store for a full refund or replacement:

WASHINGTON, June 8, 2018 – Tyson Foods Inc., a North Little Rock, Ark. establishment, is recalling approximately 3,120 pounds of frozen breaded chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically blue and clear soft plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The frozen, uncooked and breaded chicken tenderloins were produced on May 17, 2018. The following products are subject to recall: [View Label (PDF only)]
  • 12-lb. box containing 3-lb. plastic bags of “UNCOOKED, BREADED, ORIGINAL CHICKEN TENDERLOINS,” with a lot code of 1378NLR02.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-746” on the product package. These items were shipped to food services establishments, nationwide. The affected products are not available for purchase in retail stores.
The problem was discovered on June 8, 2018, when Tyson Foods Inc. notified FSIS that their breading supplier was recalling the breading ingredients due to possible foreign material contamination.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider. 
FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in freezers at food service institutions and could be served. Food Service Institutions who have purchased these products are urged not to serve them. These products should be thrown away.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

The frozen meat ravioli items were produced and packaged on various dates from Feb. 22, 2018 through June 7, 2018. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF only)]       
• 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, MEAT RAVIOLI,” and a lot code and case code of 05318, 05418, 05518, 05618, 05718, 05818, and 05918. 
• 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, Italian Sausage Ravioli.”
• 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, Prosciutto & Provolone Ravioli,” and a lot code and case code of 05318, 05418, 05518, 05618, 05718, 05818, and 05918.

The Meat Ravioli and Prosciutto & Provolone products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST.9501” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The Italian Sausage Ravioli and Osso Bucco Ravioli products do not have the USDA mark of inspection on the packaging. These items were shipped to retail locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.                              
The problem was discovered on June 7, 2018 when FSIS personnel were performing inspection activities.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

WASHINGTON, June. 7, 2018 – Supermercado Selectos, a San Sebastián, Puerto Rico firm, is recalling an undetermined amount of various raw, frozen Siluriformes fish, beef, pork and poultry products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The raw, frozen Siluriformes fish, beef, pork, chicken and turkey items were produced on various dates from August 2017 to May 31, 2018. The complete list of products and UPC code numbers can be found here.
Supermercado Selectos shipped the items to DGA Food Service, LLC, who further distributed the items to Head Start Child and Adult Care Food Programs in Puerto Rico.
USDA provides reimbursement for meals served in Head Start through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP); however, these products were purchased commercially.  These meat and poultry products were not provided or purchased by USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service.        
The problem was first discovered during routine inspection by FSIS investigators on May 23, 2018. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider. 
FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Shearer’s Foods, LLC of Massillon, OH is recalling Meijer brand 9.5 ounce packages of Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips because they may contain undeclared milk. People who are allergic to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips were distributed to Meijer stores in OH, MI, IN, IL, KY, and WI from April 20, 2018 until May 29, 2018.
The product comes in a 9.5 ounce bag marked with the UPC # 719283594365 and with sell by dates on the package between 07/16/18 and 08/13/18. A total of 2,450 cases were affected. All but 177 cases of the recalled Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips were shipped to Meijer distribution centers.
The remaining cases were caught prior to shipment and are in the process of being destroyed.
The issue was discovered when the family of a consumer who suffered an allergic reaction reported the incident to Meijer. Shearer’s Foods, LLC conducted an investigation which indicated that due to human error, a product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk.
Customers who purchased the recalled product from Meijer may dispose of it or return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund. WASHINGTON, June 4, 2018 – Goodman Food Products, Texas, Inc., a Mansfield, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 34,400 pounds of fully cooked ground beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically hard, white plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The frozen, fully cooked ground beef patty and crumble items were produced on August 2, 2017. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF only)]
  • 40-lb. cases of “Don Lee Farms FULLY COOKED BEEF PATTY CRUMBLES” with lot code 5886A7214, case code CNG36100 and “Best if used within” date of August 2, 2018.
  • 40-lb. cases of “Don Lee Farms FULLY COOKED HOMESTYLE BEEF PATTY” with lot code 5886A7214, case code CNG38220 and “Best if used within” date of August 2, 2018.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 5886A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were purchased by USDA Foods for the National School Lunch Program (NLSP). These items were shipped to institutional locations in Maine and Connecticut.
The problem was discovered after the company and USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Services received consumer complaints about hard, white plastic material found in the fully cooked ground beef products.  
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.  
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in school freezers or refrigerators. School nutrition professionals who have purchased these products are urged not to prepare or consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

Sanders announced today that it is recalling its 3.75oz Milk Chocolate Covered Fudge Mini Bites because they may contain undeclared almonds. People who have allergies to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled 3.75oz Milk Chocolate Covered Fudge Mini Bites were distributed throughout several Michigan retail stores.
The product comes in a 3.75 ounce, gray and black package marked with lot 8109 FL and Best By Date January 31, 2019 ink-jetted on the rear.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Almond-containing product was inadvertently added to a production line which was packaging product that did not contain Almonds.
Other production dates of the product are not affected.

SDQ Trading Inc. of 651A Lexington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11221 is recalling its 16.5 oz packages of Cheese Biscuits because they may contain undeclared milk allergen. Consumers who are allergic to milk allergen may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Cheese Biscuits were distributed in New York State in retail stores. The product comes in a 16.5 oz, clear plastic package. The product UPC code is 6926145712902.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of undeclared milk allergens in the 16.5 oz packages of Cheese Biscuits which did not declare a milk ingredient on the label.
