Announcement

Tasty Toppings, Inc. is conducting a voluntary recall of its Dorothy Lynch Home Style Dressing. The product poses no health risks to consumers. Fat Free Dorothy Lynch Dressing is not included in the recall.
Tasty Toppings initiated the recall for products primarily shipped to Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota after confirming a product quality issue with one of its ingredients. The company conducted extensive tests and identified a bacteria (lactobacillus), commonly used in foods such as yogurt as well as probiotics, that forms gas bubbles in bottles, causing the dressing to foam over or spew out when opened.
“We’ve been working to ensure the voluntary recall is being communicated as quickly and effectively as possible,” said Kim Bean, Tasty Topping’s president. “Part of the challenge with this issue is that it’s randomly distributed throughout the affected batch dates, but to be sure, we’re recalling all product bottled within those date ranges. There is no health risk to ingest the affected product, but we’re advising anyone with an affected bottle to return to the store where they bought it for a refund.”
Customers can look at the “Best By” date on the neck of the bottle to determine if it is affected.
Affected “Best By” dates are:
  • Home Style 8, 16 or 32 ounce bottles:
    • Bottles with “Best By” dates between 9/16/16 and 1/7/17 are recalled.
  • Home Style gallons:
    • Gallons with “Best By” dates between 6/16/16 and 10/11/16 are recalled.
All sizes of Fat Free dressing are not included in the recall.
“If you already opened a bottle within this date range and nothing happened, that bottle was not affected by the issue,” said Bean. “It’s up to the discretion of those customers to either discard the product or continue use.”
Customers who have experienced any quality issues from an affected bottle, or who have recently purchased a bottle in the affected date range, are encouraged to return to the store for a refund. The recall information will be available on the website at dorothylynch.com and customer service personnel are available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., to answer questions by phone at 800-228-4148, or by email at contactus@dorothylynch.com.

On April 7, 2016, Pilgrim’s Pride Corp recalled approximately 40,780 pounds of fully cooked chicken nuggets produced on Oct. 5, 2015. The following product is subject to recall:
  • 20-lb. cardboard boxes containing two, 10-lb. clear plastic bags of fully cooked chicken nuggets labeled as “GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Popcorn Style Chicken Patty Fritters” with package codes 5278105021, 5278105022, 5278105023, 5278105000, and 5278105001.
The products subject to recall bears establishment number “EST. 20728” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped for institutional use nationwide. According to Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. records, schools have purchased products through the company’s commercial channels.
The problem was first discovered after the firm received several consumer complaints regarding plastic contamination of the chicken nuggets. The firm notified FSIS personnel of the issue on April 6, 2016. FSIS personnel identified more affected product types and dates of production after investigating additional consumer complaints of foreign material contamination received by the recalling firm.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the products are no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

Announcement

ConAgra Foods is voluntarily recalling Watts Brothers Farms Organic Mixed Vegetables, Organic Super Sweet Corn (Yellow/Gold), and Organic Peas and Trader Joe’s Organic Super Sweet Corn due to the potential for these products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This voluntary action is being undertaken because the Watts Brothers and Trader Joe’s recalled products contain vegetables that are part of the recent CRF Frozen Foods recall.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
No illnesses to date have been reported to ConAgra Foods for the products listed below.
Products covered by this recall were distributed in the U.S. Watts Brothers Farms products were sold at Costco and Trader Joe’s products were sold at Trader Joe’s. Specific product names and information are listed below. No other ConAgra Foods or Watts Brothers retail branded products are impacted by this recall.
